California Fires Map: Tracking the Spread

Several fast-moving wildfires are raging through California near the Sierra Nevada foothills and the Los Angeles shoreline.

The largest of these wildfires, called the Camp Fire, is both the deadliest and the most destructive in Californias modern history.

It has spread to more than 150,000 acres, leaving at least 81 people dead and more than 18,000 structures destroyed so far.

Firefighters have battled strong, dry winds from the northeast while trying to prevent the fire from spreading, and reported that it was 80 percent contained as of Wednesday morning.

Magalia, home to about 11,000 people, was one of many communities forced to evacuate after fire exploded across the region on Nov.
