Google Cancels 'Smart Town' Plan Criticized as 'Data Surveillance Test Bed'

Google-affiliated corporate Sidewalk Labs has reportedly deserted its plan to construct a high-tech "smart town" on Toronto's waterfront because of "unprecedented economic uncertainty." The venture had already confronted controversy across the tech massive's information assortment plans, with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association referred to as it a "data surveillance test bed."
